Is Bigger Better? (Conclusion)

Two previous newsletters have tried to emphasize the fact, that when it comes to HVAC systems, not only is bigger not necessarily better but if things like temperature swings, cold rooms, and insufficient humidity are to be avoided, bigger can be worse! In summary, we concluded that Bigger is not necessarily Better…But Comfort Is! Here are several more things that are better:

Merry Sherman     Quiet is better! Engineered with exclusive SilentComfort technology, Dave Lennox Signature Collection home comfort systems deliver a superior level of comfort and quiet, energy-efficient performance. They make your home more comfortable, more livable.

Efficiency is better! Back in the ‘60’s, ‘70’s and ‘80’s…when energy (gas and electric) was relatively cheap, 60% efficient heating systems were the norm (and there are still some of those systems around). Today’s minimum is just under 80%...a big improvement but that still means 20% of the heat you have paid for is still wasted.

Today, Lennox for example, has furnaces that are 95% efficient with similar improvements in their electrical consumption too. Low stage heating to gently circulate warm, comfortable air throughout your home. This "low speed" heating cycle operates nearly continuously to maintain your comfort with amazing consistency, for contrary to popular belief, long system cycles in both heating and cooling are far more desirable and energy efficient than short run cycles. Standard furnaces are limited to providing full “on” heating, followed by full “off” cycles and falling indoor temperatures. This results in up and down temperature swings, hot and cold areas in your home and periods of discomfort.

Air Conditioning has had similar improvements in its technology. Beginning in Jan of this year, a 13 SEER (seasonal energy efficiency ratio - a measurement to measure condenser efficiency) is minimum (that’s a 30% improvement in efficiency from last year.

Climatemakers; Creating, Calculated, Custom, Comfort, indoors… means different things for different families. Customizing indoor climates requires more than just recommending a bigger piece of equipment. Knowledge of the latest HVAC technologies available as well as understanding your lifestyle, your health concerns and what comfort means to you is all important!

Our 53+ years of expertise and experience, combined with what our professional sales representatives will learn about your needs as an individual homeowner, will enable us to create the indoor climate you may have only dreamed about.

And what does that mean? Well for starters, “Does your heating/cooling bill make you very uncomfortable?

Or are you experiencing any of the following discomforts?

Cold Feet
Cold Spots
Cold Rooms
Condensation
Cracking Woodwork
Dry Air
Dry Furniture
Molds
Odors
Fumes
Smoke (Second hand smoke, residual smoke from cooking or wood burning fireplaces,)
Static Electricity
Stratification of air
Window Moisture

None of these comfort issues can be solved by the “Bigger is Better” philosophy. Gone are the days when just “keeping warm” was considered optimum comfort.  Indoor climate irritants of the past are no longer acceptable in today's tighter built homes with customers who are
keenly aware that nearly everything from allergies to window condensation can be reduced and in many cases eradicated with a properly designed indoor air quality system. Click here to find out how one of our experts can help you further.
