HVAC (Cooling) 201.

We’ve said it before but it bears repeating “Your HVAC (cooling/heating) system is the most expensive appliance in your house.” It consumes 44-55% of all the energy used in your home!

Merry Sherman     When monthly operating costs get higher each month (or repairs become too frequent or too expensive), serious thought needs to be given as to whether equipment is to be continually repaired or should it be replaced.

If you follow one simple rule, the answer is relatively easy: Treat your HVAC system like an investment...and a long term one at that! It’s going to have a major impact on your family’s health, comfort (and equally as important) on your pocketbook for years to come!

If you’re satisfied with the bare minimum that an HVAC system can provide (prevent freezing in winter; sweltering in summer) read no further. Putting up with ever higher fuel bills and frequent repairs are always the cheapest in the short run.

On the other hand, if you are more interested in:

  1.  Energy and cost savings.
2.  A healthy environment.
3.  Comfort.
4.  Convenience.
5.  Quiet operation.
6.  Peace of Mind (no worry).

…then read on.

CAUTION: When trying to analyze whether equipment should be repaired or replaced, try not to shop for price until last. This is difficult when you are making a sizable investment but if you don’t do your homework, the variables can be so confusing that you are left with the only thing you that you may have to live with diminished understand…the price. And the penalty for that is comfort…capacity…efficiency…
dependability…even the risk of system failure for a long, long time.

I.e., replacing a compressor in a 10 year old air conditioner or heat pump is certainly cheaper in the short term, than replacing the entire unit. But after the repairs are made, you still have a 10 year old system with a new compressor. All of the other parts are still as old as the original equipment, and so is the efficiency!

Bear in mind that three (3) things go to make up the complete price of any mechanical purchase be it an automobile or an air conditioner:

  1.  Cost to Purchase.
2.  Cost to Operate.
3.  Cost to Maintain.

So, from the beginning, think efficiency, efficiency, efficiency.  Long after the difference in the price of a “builder’s model” and a “High Efficiency” unit is forgotten, the cost of operating and maintaining the equipment goes on and on, year after year after year.

Some people erroneously subscribe to the theory that “you get what you pay for”. Unfortunately in these days, even that’s not always true. What is true is that you don’t get any more than you pay for. It’s just not economically possible. Just can’t get $100 for $50.

Of course, we can’t speak for others but we know what a “Climatemakers Total Comfort System” is. We’ve described it in detail on our website www.climatemakers.com.  Simply put, it is:

“The ability to control at the lowest cost, all of the elements of the air within your home”. To do this you must be able to control the temperature, the humidity and the quality of the air within your home, whenever you want and wherever you want. This requires 5 (sometimes 6) things. They are:

  1.  High efficiency cooling system (13 SEER or better).
2.  High efficiency heating system (8.20 HSPF (Heat Pump) or 80% AFUE (Furnace) or better).
3.  Automatic Humidifier.
4.  Air Purification.
5.  Programmable Thermostat.
6.  Zoning (not always required).

Can we do all this in your house? You can count on it! That’s what our 53+ years is all about and thousands of people know that we say what we mean and mean what we say when we say “we make the weather behave “inside” 365 days of the year”.

To find out how quickly (and relatively inexpensively) you can start enjoying all the comfort and convenience of a high efficiency cooling system in your house (and how the energy savings will help you pay for it), call (757) 468-5800 or schedule a sales appointment on our website www.climatemakers.com. There is no obligation, of course.

3rd Alert!!!!

Already you have missed the cut-off dates for the whopping 40% and the follow up 30% seasonal discounts for our unparalleled 40 point check-up/tune-up of your air conditioning system to get it ready for summer  BUT there are still 27 days left, to get the 20% discount (and “that ain’t bad”!). But you must act today, if you are going to take advantage of our annual Spring discount schedule. You can see this sliding scale of discounts and/or make your on line reservations by clicking here . You can also see specific definitions of each of the 40 points we check and how it affects your system, by clicking here.

The cost of the "check-up/tune-up" is a small price to pay for superior equipment performance that result in lower energy bills and extended life performance. Remember, THE MAJOR CAUSE OF EQUIPMENT FAILURE IS INADEQUATE MAINTENANCE.
