Is There A Thief In Your House?

I’d be willing to bet that there is…not the kind that would steal your computer or your collectibles…he’d have to go to all the trouble to convert these things to cash…not the kind that can be detected with an alarm system or the Neighborhood Watch Association…this thief is far more direct…he takes the cash right out of your checking account and the worst thing is that you probably don’t even know that you are being robbed. And not only is he not content with stealing your cash once or twice but he does it systematically all year long.

Merry ShermanOver many years (55), Climatemakers has developed a very detailed program to catch this thief. It was not a simple task (and it is an ongoing one), because this thief is very versatile…he employs many devious ways to rob you. We’ve listed some of the ways below of how he robs you and how we can help you prevent it. To be sure we do not miss anything, we call it our “32 Point Tune-up-Check Up” program, one of the most comprehensive in the industry…and of course, we’re talking about your heating system. Listed below are just 10 of the 32 points we check and our reasons for checking them:

          1. Gas Furnaces: Check all gas connections. Improperly operating gas connections not only affect gas consumption but are a fire hazard and can contribute to health problems.

          2. Check (a) gas pressure, (b) gas burner, and (c) heat exchanger. A dirty burner or cracked heat exchanger causes improper burner operation. Either can cause the equipment to operate less safely and efficiently.

          3.  For Heat Pumps: Clean evaporator and condenser coils. Dirty evaporator and condenser coils reduce the system's ability to heat your home and cause the system to run longer, increasing energy costs and reducing the life of the equipment.

          4. Check your heat pump’s refrigerant level and adjust if necessary. Too much or too little refrigerant will make your system less efficient increasing energy costs and reducing the life of the equipment.

          5. For all systems: Clean and adjust blower components to provide proper system airflow for greater comfort levels. Airflow problems can reduce your system's efficiency by up to 15 percent.

          6. Check (and tighten when needed) all electrical connections and measure voltage and current on motors. Faulty electrical connections can cause unsafe operation of your system and reduce the life of major components.

          7. Check thermostat settings to ensure the heating system keeps you comfortable when you are home and saves energy while you are away.

          8. Lubricate all moving parts. Parts that lack lubrication cause friction in motors and increase the amount of electricity you use.

          9. Check controls of the system to ensure proper and safe operation.

        10. Check the starting cycle of the equipment to assure the system starts, operates, and shuts off properly.

And that’s just 10 of 32 points! If you want to see (1) the name of each of the 32 points AND (2) the effect each point has on the performance of your system (click here).

Remember: THE MAJOR CAUSE OF EQUIPMENT FAILURE IS INADEQUATE MAINTENANCE!

If the service technician making the tune up considers your system eligible to be covered by a Planned Service Agreement (PSA) and you order it at this time, 2 additional benefits are included:

     BENEFIT #1:

You will receive a 15% discount on repairs if a service call becomes necessary throughout the year.

     BENEFIT #2:

Along with the discount you will also receive priority scheduling.

These 2 additional benefits may not seem like much at this point. However, when it becomes extremely hot or cold outside and your system stops working properly these 2 additional benefits will give you piece of mind that you have partnered with a company that will provide you service in a timely manner and give you a discount at the same time!

Ask the service technician about the multiple system and multiple year discounts available on all Planned Service Agreements!
