HOT-COLD
A Phone Number That Can Change Your Life(style)

Of all the decisions families have to make (new car, which college, where to vacation), few can begin to compare with the impact on the family's lifestyle (health, comfort, convenience, finances, etc.) as the choice they make in the HVAC system that is installed in their house…and remember someone wisely said, "Doing nothing is doing something".

Unfortunately, if homeowners ever even think of the system in their home that has such an impact on their lifestyle (and that controls the living conditions within) at all, it is usually because of a malfunction. If it's winter, they think of the heating system…if it's summer, they think of the air conditioner. And that's about it.

And we might just as well say this up front. If all you're concerned with is just getting the heating or cooling back on; if you're satisfied as long as you are not freezing in the winter or sweltering in the summer; then our advice is to turn to the Yellow Pages and select the contractor that has the cheapest prices.

Parenthetically, we don't worry about cheap prices. In our experience, given a choice, we've found that most people don't want a "cheap system" and as for those that tout their "cheap prices", well, I guess they know what their work is worth.

On the other hand, if you are a person that knows that a home can be far more than just a form of shelter; that the HVAC system you've chosen to live with will have a vital impact on the health of the inhabitants as well as their comfort…that in a very real sense it establishes and expresses the cultural and social status of the residents…and if these things are important, then you may want to read on.

What the knowledgeable person knows (but many others fail to realize) is that seldom in our lives do we have the opportunity to make a decision that has such a profound impact on our lifestyle (health, comfort, environment and our finances) than the HVAC system we choose to install in our homes. Think about this:

An airtight home for example may be good from a savings perspective, but it's not good from an indoor air quality perspective. What you may not know is that the emphasis to make our homes more energy efficient, has created a bunch of new problems in the form of air pollution that stems from contaminants found in particleboard, fiberboard and various other materials and plastics used in construction.

Inside our homes too, we are also surrounded by many sources of air pollution. Some are familiar (smoking, cooking etc). Some are not so familiar (carpeting, plastics, particle boad, fiberboard, furniture made of various materials all glued with resins that decompose over time).

Pets, houseplants and humans are another source of air pollution… all contributing to allergies which have become an acute problem for so many…all because the air we breathe is so often heavily contaminated.

Dust also is found in various forms and sizes nearly everywhere. Dust is capable of absorbing substances and distributing them for long distances. House dust is known as one of the most strongly allergenic materials found indoors. Dust content varies depending on people and activities.

Then, consider dry air. It affects everything around us. Plants droop, paintings craze or crack, furniture joints loosen, moldings shrink, and wallpaper will loosen due to the loss of moisture. A lack of humidity can cause warping and splitting of furniture, woodwork and hardwood floors. Musical instruments such as: woodwinds, strings, and even pianos, loose pitch and can be prone to cracking and warping as well.

Dry air is also one of the major causes of respiratory infections, nose bleeds and repeated episodes of winter colds. A lack of moisture can prevent your body's immune system from repelling infection causing germs, and can actually promote the growth of some bacteria, viruses, and respiratory irritants.

You may know for example, that scientific and technical improvements in the last decade, to heating and cooling systems has significantly improved the comfort level available in our homes from a temperature aspect.

What you may not know, is that a properly integrated system can bring a wholesome, healthy, conditioned, comfortable environment to your home, that provides total year round comfort for all the inhabitants…and do it, consistently, efficiently and economically. "Total Indoor Comfort" is far more than just not freezing in the winter or sweltering in summer.

A properly integrated system not only performs better but is more comfortable, healthier, more convenient, results in less air pollution, saves money, increases personal satisfaction and significantly impacts the cash flow and the cash value of the home over it's lifetime to say nothing of improved health conditions for every member of the family…

Next time, we will discuss in more detail, how a Climatemakers Total Comfort System improves your lifestyle and how easily it can be yours. Until then, if you would like to see an integrated system live, click here.
