For The Want Of A Nail

For the want of a nail, the shoe was lost;
For the want of the shoe, the horse was lost;
For the want of the horse, the rider was lost;
For the want of a rider, the battle was lost;
For the want of the battle, the kingdom was lost;
All for the want of a nail.

Generally, this old tale is told to emphasize the importance of taking care of small problems so that they don't grow into big problems.

One of the reasons it's always been one of my favorites, is that it is as applicable today as it was centuries ago when it was first told. For example, it can apply to your heating system. Here's our version:

For the want of a "tune-up", efficiency was impaired;
For the want of efficiency, costs increased;
For the want of a "check-up", safety compromised;
For the want of a clean filter, the motor failed;
For the want of a motor, the fan stopped blowing;
For the want of a fan, the system shut down;
For the want of heat, the house grew cold;
For the want of heat, the pipes all froze;
(on the coldest week-end of the winter and the cost of repairs was enormous).
All for the want of a "tune-up"/check-up".

That's why we put so much emphasis on having your heating system "tune-up/checked up" for the winter. It's why we have the most comprehensive (32 points) check-up/tune-up in the industry (for proof, not promises, click http://www.climatemakers.com/fall_tuneup.htm for a detailed chart of what we do and how it affects the safety and efficiency of your heating system). And it's certainly the reason we offer a special discount (20%) one month before the heating season begins. All to emphasize it's importance and to encourage people to act now!

There is a second, more subtle implication in the story and it's a game all of us play with our lives. It's called "what if". "What if" the nail had not been lost or "what if" the battle had been won, would history have been changed? Robert Frost put it very eloquently in his famous poem "The Road Not Taken" and he ends the poem by saying "and that made all the difference".

Well, we wouldn't be so bold as to say that if you don't have your heating system prepared for the winter, dire consequences will happen but if this winter your heating system does breaks down or if it costs an arm and a leg to operate or a small fortune to repair it, you might well say to yourself "what if" I had prepared it for the winter, would this have happened, cost so much and been so inconvenienced?

Your family's indoor comfort is our family's business

You still have time to earn an additional 5% discount if you order you "tune-up/check-up" by email (total 25%) as the offer expires 11/30/01. Click http://www.climatemakers.com/ssform.htm

Note: The 32 point check-up will bring your heating system up to it's optimum performance, although it can not exceed it's original efficiency. It would be unrealistic to expect a 10 year old heating system to provide the efficiency and comfort of today's modern heating systems with their many technological improvements.

For a limited time . . . An Instant Rebate, Special Financing, and an exciting Accessory and Extended Warranty package is available. To schedule a FREE estimate, call (757) 468-5800 or click http://www.climatemakers.com/ssform.htm
