Knowledge and Experience

In our last newsletter, we related the story of a person who had expressed her dissatisfaction with the experiences she received from the several companies she had called when her HVAC system required service. She ended her comments by saying “Oh, if I could just find a HVAC company that had knowledgeable employees including service technicians, that know more about Indoor Comfort than just “how to fix things”…and doesn't charge an arm and a leg”.

Merry Sherman     A familiar refrain, these days… “Oh, if I could just find…etc etc”… Having had similar experiences with other businesses myself, my first thought was to start singing the old Judy Garland song “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” but because HVAC is our business, I thought better of it and addressed the 1st part of her lament (Costs) in the previous newsletter. You can review that response by clicking here. This letter will focus on the “knowledge and experience” portion.

Things have changed. There was a time when most household repairs were simple enough…that an enterprising individual could (and did) make many home repairs himself…stopped up drains…a leak in the roof…move an electrical outlet…cleaning and lubricate the heating system. Today, we call that DIY (Do it yourself) but in view of today’s highly technical world, it is more likely that a DIY will turn into a DITY (do it to yourself). That’s still an option and some of our best jobs come from those who practice it.

But the true skill of a good HVAC service technician, just as it is with any professional, be it “doctor, lawyer or Indian chief”, has as much to do with correctly diagnosing the problem, as it does with how to use a screw driver and a wrench. If you have no heating or cooling…if one room is colder than another…if the thermostat, humidifier or the electronic air cleaner are not performing as intended or if it is simply a matter of reducing the ever increasing cost of operation…correct diagnosis is vital…and that’s where we shine…Correct Diagnosis.

But “Correct Diagnosis” is not a “shelf item”…not something that comes wrapped up in a package or an item of inventory that can be dispensed at will. The fundamental truth is that people remain the core of any business. Experienced, dedicated people…people who make “customer satisfaction” their number one priority…and through their brains, their experience, their dedication, quality service becomes a reality…not just an idle slogan. It’s what makes one business succeed and another fail.

From our experienced sales staff, that will not just take for granted that the size of your existing unit is the correct one (or do like so many contractors, automatically recommend the next larger size)…they are professionals, who will measure your home and calculate the actual heating & cooling load of the home, so that they can design...for you and your family…the finest, healthiest, most comfortable indoor comfort conditions possible…

…to Climatemakers experienced service representatives and installers, who aresecond to none. Schooled on new products as they become available, while maintaining up-to-date information through weekly service meetings and special schools, to keep fully informed on existing equipment…

…and including all the support people in between…dispatchers… …installation and service managers…receptionists…warehouse personnel…metal fabricators…and the list goes on.

With all the modesty and humility we can muster,we confess that we’re experts in all phases of the installation and maintenance of residential cooling and heating systems…including correct diagnosing of systems that enable them to achieve optimum indoor air quality and energy conservation. Our 53+ years in business and the over 250,000 systems we have installed and/or serviced…attest to the fact, that we must be doing something right. Maybe being one of the oldest, locally owned, family-owned, HVAC businesses in the area, has something to do with it.

Climatemakers is so confident of it’s knowledge and experience, that it offers for FREE…through it’s 250+ page website and bi monthly newsletters, one of the most comprehensive array of residential HVAC information available anywhere...for customers and competitors alike.
