Climatemakers’ Circle Of Comfort (Part I)

As we mentioned in our last newsletter, modern heating and cooling systems today are much more sophisticated than they were when we started Climatemakers over a half century ago. In fact about the only thing those early oilMerry Shermanand gas-fired heating systems had in common with today’s sophisticated home comfort systems, is our personal standards for quality installations.

We sincerely believe that any success we have achieved over these past 55 years is directly related to our dedication to providing our customers with a “second-to-none” installation and services---from the friendly, courteous, “eager-to-help” person that answers the phone…the knowledgeable sales representatives that can explain the unprecedented levels of energy efficiency and comfort through precision control of temperature, humidity, and fan speeds available today…to the highly trained installers and technicians that install and service your "Indoor Comfort System", we do whatever it takes to make the weather behave, inside  your home…yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Many thousands of customers, attest to the fact, that the tradition Climatemakers started 55 years ago is about more than just heating and cooling. It’s about earning the trust of customers by taking care of all of their indoor comfort needs. This includes, in addition to service and installations, peripheral benefits such as a reliable computer history of their installation available at the click of a key; a FREE 250+ page website easily accessible for information and service and keeping them updated as to the newest innovations in home comfort and efficiency with a FREE newsletter and information like the following:

Climatemakers' Circle Of Comfort (Part I)

This updated graphic, is a typical example of our efforts to provide timely information…so that you may learn not only the things you need to know about first cost versus efficiency and how that relates to lifetime costs of owning a heating and cooling system, but what constitutes the ultimate in year-round home comfort, security, and efficiency that is available today.

Climatemakers’ Circle of Comfort is designed to inform you of the latest in technology…to help you choose a home comfort system that is just right for you. To help you select the right accessories such as air cleaners, humidity control, zoning and special thermostats for the system, so that your family can sleep in a safe cooling and/or heating environment, 365 days of the year.

This week we begin with the basic component of most HVAC systems…the heating system. Because of space & time constraints, we will assume that you have already determined the type of system (forced air, boiler, or resistance heating) and the type of fuel you desire (gas, electric, oil) to use. Both of these are extremely important decisions but most people already know their preferences and the purpose of this series is to try to bring to your attention several things you don’t know.

In our area, the majority of homes use forced air heating systems and either natural gas or electricity (heat pumps) as the fuel of choice and for that reason we will concentrate on them.

Gas furnaces and heat pumps, provide warm, and even heat throughout your home by circulating heated air through a metal or fiberglass duct system. Today's furnaces are far more efficient than they were even a decade ago but there’s more to comfort than high efficiency. I.e., two-speed furnaces can run on low speed up to 90% of the time, so they operate more quietly and run for longer periods of time than single-speed furnaces.

Variable-capacity furnaces provide the ultimate combination of comfort, efficiency and quiet performance. In addition to the benefits of two-speed furnaces, they offer "smart" motors than can monitor your home's comfort needs and automatically adjust the volume and speed of air to provide the most efficient heating or cooling.

Just these two refinements (variable speeds and variable capacities) can translate into fewer on/off cycles, resulting in much smaller temperature swings. Better air circulation means less air "stratification" (warm air rising to the ceiling and cold air settling on the floor). In short, you get consistent, even heat throughout your home. For more information on these and other innovations, visit our 250+ page website (www.climatemakers.com) or call (757.468.5800) or email (comfort@climatemakers.com) and ask to speak with one of our knowledgeable sales representatives. There is no obligation, of course.

In coming weeks we will flesh out this “Circle of Comfort” even further and show you how each component works together to help you choose the heating and air conditioning system that will provide you with efficient performance that not only saves on your energy bills, but provides undreamed of comfort, convenience and peace of mind.

Don’t miss the 2nd installment of “Climatemakers’ Circle of Comfort” in our next newsletter.
