We’re Going Underground for Power

Heating and cooling your home with the power of the earth

Did you know that there’s a rich source of energy right underneath your house? Geothermal energy systems are designed to take advantage of the natural heat that the ground holds. Using a heat pump, ducts, a heat exchanger and a network of underground pipes, a geothermal system transfer’s heat to and from the indoor air as needed and offers several advantages over traditional furnaces and air conditioners.

Renewable Resource

Unlike coal and oil, heat from the sun isn’t in danger of running out. The ground absorbs about 46 % of the sun’s energy every day, and that warmth is just waiting to be harnessed and pumped into your home.

Environmentally Friendly

Traditional HVAC systems operate using combustible fuel, a process that releases byproducts such as carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. These along with other greenhouse gasses contribute to environmental degradation and can be an immediate threat to the health of your family should they ever leak into the house. Geothermal systems, on the other hand, use water and antifreeze to conduct heat without the need for combustion or its related hazards.

Versatile

A geothermal energy system heats your home in the winter, cools it down in the summer and can be used to heat your water as well. Instead of operating a separate furnace, air conditioner and hot water heater, you get all of your heating and cooling needs from one compact unit.

High Efficiency

No furnace is capable of operating at 100% efficiency, so the best you can hope for is to get as close as possible. Switching to geothermal energy provides four units of heat for every one unit of power used, making it 400% efficient. Attaching the system to your water heater can bring down associated costs as much as 66%.

Saves Money

Although geothermal systems have substantial upfront costs, you can wind up saving 20 to 50 % on you energy bills. This significant savings means that you’ll recoup your initial investment over time.

Tax Credits

Due to the high efficiency of a geothermal system, the Federal Government is offering a 30% tax credit for the price of the system as well as the ground loops. In turn this will help you recoup your initial investment is much less time.
