Humidifier Installation in Virginia Beach

Protect Your Home from Dry Air

In winter, just the simple act of turning up the thermostat starts a chain of events that results in too little humidity, which can bring near disastrous results. That's because warm, dry air acts like a giant sponge that soaks up moisture from everything it touches. As with filtration, humidity control is an important element of indoor air quality.

Dry air can cause:

  • Dry skin
  • Woodwork and furniture shrinkage
  • Chapped lips
  • Hardwood floor separation
  • Clogged sinuses
  • Piano goes out of tune
  • Itchy skin
  • Wallpaper peels at the edges
  • Dry throat and coughing
  • Drawers loosen
  • Cracked nasal membranes
  • Moldings gap
  • Increased risk of bacterial infection
  • Collectibles shrink, warp, and crack
  • Aggravated asthma & allergy symptoms
  • Static electricity increases

The solution to these and many similar problems can be the installation of a whole-house humidifier. Here at Climatemakers, our Virginia Beach air quality technicians can help you select the right humidifier for your home and get it installed in no time.

Choosing the Right Humidifier

undefinedAt Climatemakers, we offer several different models of whole-home humidifiers in order to fit any budget. Any humidifier will help combat the negative impacts of dry air – the degree of control is what separates each type. We can help you choose the right type based on your comfort, your home's efficiency, and your budget.

The three main types of humidifiers we install are:

  • Bypass: The most basic of the humidifiers, this unit utilizes the warm air ducted from the heating system as it passes through a saturated filter pad, allowing the water to evaporate into the air stream. The installation cost and upkeep of this product are very low and will typically satisfy mild humidity loss issues. This unit can operate independently from the heating system but evaporation will likely be extremely low using ambient air.
  • Powered: This unit also uses warm air from the heating system to evaporate water. However, there is no additional ducting involved. It includes a powered fan to circulate dry heated air across the saturated filter pad. The installation cost is slightly higher than that of the bypass type due to the cost of the fan and additional electrical connections.
  • Steam: Unlike the filter pad type humidifiers, this unit can evaporate water independent of the heating system with great results. It will use its own heating element to boil water that is then introduced to the air stream. The price may be much higher than that of the other 2 types, but depending on your needs, this unit can provide you with the greatest amount of humidity, making you more comfortable while guarding your home against dry air damage.

Proper maintenance is required to keep any humidifier functioning well. Our technicians can provide total maintenance and filter pad replacements upon request.
